Governance & Transparency

VANCA is a Vancouver-founded, veteran-led nonprofit initiative established in 2026. We operate online. Our self-service information and educational tools are available across Canada, and personalized navigation requests are considered case by case, subject to organizational capacity. We are not a registered charity. Specific incorporation details, corporation numbers and registered-office information will be published only once verified administrative records exist.

We are committed to transparency, privacy protection, non-partisan advocacy, and honesty about what we can and cannot do. We make decisions within clearly defined service boundaries, and we believe being open about where we are — and where we are not yet — is part of building trust.

As directors are formally appointed, the board will oversee strategy, privacy, finances, risk, service quality, partnerships, advocacy, responsible growth and executive accountability. Directors will not be expected to provide daily case navigation. Until a board is formally seated, the founder takes direct responsibility for these functions.

The founder is accountable for day-to-day operations, service boundaries, and the accuracy of public information. Once seated, the board holds the founder and any future executive accountable through adopted governance documents, conflict-of-interest management, and regular review.

We operate non-partisanly. We do not accept paid endorsements, referral fees, or compensation that would influence the information or referrals we provide. Any identified conflict will be disclosed and managed transparently. A formal conflict-of-interest policy will be adopted as governance matures.

We take privacy seriously. A dedicated privacy officer role and a formal retention schedule will be assigned as capacity grows. Until then, leadership takes direct responsibility for how information is collected, stored, and used. See our Privacy Notice.

VANCA operates through grants, donations, and in-kind support. As governance matures, financial oversight will include documented budgeting, separation of duties, and independent review where appropriate. Financial results will be reported only once verified records exist.

If you believe we provided incorrect information, handled your request improperly, or acted outside our service boundaries, you can raise it through our contact page. Every complaint is reviewed by leadership. If we published incorrect information, we will correct it and note the correction publicly.

If a concern cannot be resolved internally, we will help direct you to the appropriate external body.

VANCA is recruiting founding directors to govern and responsibly develop a measurable online veteran-navigation service. Directors will oversee privacy, finances, risk, service quality, partnerships, advocacy, responsible growth and executive accountability. We are seeking expertise in:

• Independent governance or board-chair experience
• CPA or nonprofit financial oversight
• Privacy, legal, cybersecurity or organizational risk
• Veteran service quality and lived experience
• Partnerships, fundraising or government relations
• Family or caregiver perspective

Governing documents, bylaws, insurance status, and adopted policies will be listed here only once verified administrative records exist. We will not publish policy or governance claims that cannot be supported by current records.
